What is Dungeon Heroes?

Dungeon Heroes is a dungeon-crawling action RPG on Roblox by Twin Atlas with over 210 million visits and a 96% approval rating. You explore dungeons, fight mobs, and race the clock to beat bosses before time runs out. Loot drops fuel your progression — weapons, gear, skills, and pets all stack up to make you stronger. The game spans 10 different realms with 5 playable dungeons (a 6th is coming), each with 4 difficulty tiers from Normal to Insane. You can solo or squad up with up to 5 players. There's no level cap — it goes to infinity. If you like games where the grind actually feels rewarding, this one delivers.

Getting Started – Beginner Tips

8 Tips
🗺️
Start with Shattered Forest
Your first dungeon should always be Shattered Forest on Normal. It's the easiest one and drops decent starter gear. Don't jump into harder dungeons until you've got a full loadout from here.
⚔️
Match Your Weapon to Your Skills
Magic skills need a magic weapon (scepters, staves). Physical skills need a physical weapon (swords, spears, hammers). Mixing them tanks your damage. Hover over any skill to check its type.
🎲
Sell Everything You Don't Need
Unwanted gear and pets convert to Stardust at the lobby shop. Stardust is how you upgrade pets and reroll gear stats. Hoarding junk in your inventory does nothing — sell it all.
📋
Do Your Dailies
Daily quests are one of the best sources of Keys. You need Keys for skill crates and pet merging, and they don't drop fast enough from bosses alone. Never skip dailies.
👥
Squad Up (1-5 Players)
You can solo dungeons, but grouping with up to 5 players makes everything faster and safer. Coordinate builds — have someone run healing skills while others go DPS.
🐾
Use Pets as Meat Shields Early
Early-game pets aren't strong enough to deal real damage, but they draw aggro from mobs. Let your pets tank hits while you focus on dealing damage and dodging boss attacks.
🔒
Lock Good Stats Before Rerolling
Gear stats range from D to S. When you reroll at the shop, you can lock stats you want to keep — but each locked stat increases the Stardust cost. Lock your S-tier stats and reroll the rest.
🤸
Learn to Dodge Roll
The dodge roll is your best survival tool. Boss attacks hit hard, especially on Hard and Insane difficulty. Rolling through attacks gives you invincibility frames. Use it constantly.

Dungeon System

There are currently 5 dungeons in the game, with a 6th on the way. Each dungeon has 4 difficulty levels: Normal, Medium, Hard, and Insane. Higher difficulties drop better loot and give a chance at exclusive rare pets. You need to beat the boss before the timer runs out — fail and you lose the run.

Starter

Shattered Forest

The first dungeon and the one every new player should grind. Enemies are manageable, the boss is straightforward, and the gear drops are solid enough to carry you into the next zone. Run this on Normal until you're comfortable, then push to Medium.

Mid

Orion's Peak

The second dungeon ramps up the difficulty. Mobs hit harder and the boss has more complex attack patterns. You'll want at least a full set of Shattered Forest gear before attempting this one. Bring AoE skills — the mob density is higher here.

Mid

Deadman's Cove

A pirate-themed dungeon with tighter corridors and ambush-style encounters. The boss fight is a DPS check — if your gear isn't up to par, you'll time out. Make sure your weapon and skills are properly matched (magic with magic, physical with physical).

Hard

Flaming Depths

Fire-themed dungeon with environmental hazards on top of tough enemies. The boss is one of the hardest in the game. You'll want a squad for this one — solo runs are possible but punishing. Healing skills become almost mandatory here.

Endgame

Mosscrown Jungle

The current endgame dungeon. Dense jungle environment with the toughest mobs and the most rewarding loot. Running this on Insane difficulty gives a shot at the rarest pets in the game. Don't attempt this without optimized gear and a coordinated team.

Each dungeon on Insane difficulty has a chance to drop an exclusive rare pet that you can't get anywhere else. If you're pet hunting, Insane is the only way. But don't rush it — undergeared runs on Insane are a waste of time.

Weapons & Gear

Weapons come in 7 types: Swords, Hammers, Spears, Magic Rods/Staves/Scepters, Scythes, Daggers, and Lances. They split into two categories — Physical and Magic. There's no class lock, so you can use any weapon at any time. Gear quality goes from Common → Rare → Epic → Legendary → Mythic, with higher quality adding more bonus stats.

S-Tier

Glacial Lance

Currently the best weapon in the game. Physical type with high base damage and excellent reach. The lance moveset lets you poke from a safe distance while still dealing top-tier DPS. Pair it with physical skills like Serpent Strike for maximum output.

S-Tier

Chilled Scythe

Wide sweeping attacks that hit multiple enemies. Great for clearing mobs fast. Physical type. The scythe moveset has a slower swing speed than swords but the AoE coverage makes up for it in dungeon runs.

A-Tier

Oceanic Scepter

The top magic weapon. If you're running a magic build with skills like Meteor Storm or Frost Arc, this is what you want. Ranged attacks keep you safe while your skills do the heavy lifting.

A-Tier

Dune Dagger

Fast attack speed with decent damage per hit. Physical type. Daggers are the best weapon type for players who like to dodge-roll between attacks. The quick recovery time means you can weave in hits between boss mechanics.

B-Tier

Forested Blade

A solid all-rounder sword. Physical type with balanced stats. Not the flashiest weapon, but reliable and easy to build around. Good option if you haven't found a lance or scythe yet.

Gear also includes upper and lower armor pieces. Quality tiers work the same as weapons — higher rarity means more stat bonuses. Don't sleep on gear stats either. Stats range from D (worst) to S (best), and you can reroll them with Stardust at the lobby shop. Lock your best stats before rerolling to protect them, but remember each lock increases the cost.

Skills & Builds

Skills come from Skill Crates, which you buy with Keys. Each dungeon has its own skill crate with skills ranging from level 1 to 15. Skills are either Magic or Physical type — match them to your weapon type for maximum damage. Some hybrid skills like Call of the Wild work with any weapon.

S-Tier

Serpent Strike

Poisons enemies on hit, dealing damage over time. The DoT stacks with your regular attacks, making it one of the highest total-damage skills in the game. Works best with physical weapons. Great for boss fights where sustained damage matters more than burst.

S-Tier

Frost Arc

Deals damage and slows enemies. The crowd control is invaluable in higher difficulties where mobs swarm you. Magic type. Pair it with Oceanic Scepter for a strong magic build that controls the battlefield.

A-Tier

Meteor Storm

High burst AoE damage. Magic type. Drops meteors on a target area, shredding groups of enemies. The cooldown is long, but the damage per cast is massive. Best used at the start of mob encounters to thin the herd.

A-Tier

Flame Rider

A ghost-rider style dash attack that deals fire damage along a path. Good for repositioning while dealing damage. Works well in dungeons with long corridors where you can hit multiple enemies in a line.

B-Tier

Nature's Grasp

Roots enemies in place and deals damage over time. The CC duration is shorter than Frost Arc, but it fully immobilizes targets instead of just slowing them. Useful for locking down dangerous elites while your team focuses fire.

AoE skills like Fireball and Piercing Wave are always solid picks for dungeon clearing. Don't overlook healing skills either — Self-Heal can save a run when your team is struggling on Hard or Insane difficulty. A good loadout usually has 1-2 damage skills, 1 AoE/CC skill, and 1 utility or healing skill.

Pet System & Merging

Pets drop from dungeon clears as pet crates. You need to defeat the pet inside the crate to capture it. Pets fight alongside you in dungeons, drawing aggro and dealing extra damage. The real power comes from merging and upgrading them.

Merging

How Pet Merging Works

Combine 5 pets of the same rarity to get 1 pet of the next tier. Common → Uncommon → Rare → Legendary. Merging costs Keys — for example, merging 5 Obsidian Knights costs 12 Keys. Plan your merges carefully since Keys are a limited resource.

Upgrading

Leveling Pets with Stardust

Pets level from 1 to 75 using Stardust. Higher-level pets deal more damage and have more HP. Focus your Stardust on your best pet first rather than spreading it across multiple pets. A single maxed pet outperforms three half-leveled ones.

Rare Drops

Insane Difficulty Exclusive Pets

Each dungeon on Insane difficulty has a chance to drop an exclusive pet you can't get on lower difficulties. These are the rarest pets in the game. If you're a collector or want the strongest possible pet lineup, Insane farming is the endgame grind.

Early on, don't stress about pet optimization. Use whatever pets you get as damage sponges. Once you're farming Hard or Insane dungeons consistently, start merging duplicates and investing Stardust into your best pulls. Sell any pets you don't plan to merge — the Stardust is more valuable than a bench full of Common pets.

Resources & Economy

Currency

Stardust (Magic Dust)

The main free currency. Get it by selling unwanted gear and pets at the lobby shop. Spend it on pet upgrades (leveling 1-75) and gear stat rerolls. Gear stats go from D to S — rerolling chases better grades. You can lock good stats before rerolling, but each lock increases the Stardust cost. Don't waste Stardust rerolling Common gear — save it for Epic+ quality items.

Resource

Keys

Earned from boss kills and daily quests. Used to open Skill Crates and merge/roll pets. Keys are the bottleneck resource in the game — you'll always want more than you have. Prioritize daily quests since they're the most reliable source. Don't spend Keys on low-level skill crates once you've progressed past that dungeon.

Premium

Crystals

The paid currency (costs Robux). Used exclusively for cosmetic items — outfits, accessories, and visual effects from the rotating shop. The shop refreshes every 24 hours. Crystals don't give any gameplay advantage, so they're completely optional.

Build Guide – Magic vs Physical

Every weapon and skill in Dungeon Heroes is either Magic or Physical type. Your build's effectiveness depends entirely on keeping these matched. Here's how to think about it.

Magic Build

Scepter + Magic Skills

Run a magic weapon (Oceanic Scepter is the best) with magic skills like Frost Arc, Meteor Storm, and a healing skill. Magic builds excel at range and AoE damage. You stay safe while your skills do the work. Best for players who prefer a caster playstyle or are newer to action RPGs.

Physical Build

Lance/Scythe + Physical Skills

Grab a Glacial Lance or Chilled Scythe and pair it with physical skills like Serpent Strike and Nature's Grasp. Physical builds deal more consistent damage up close. You'll rely on dodge rolling to survive. Higher skill ceiling but higher damage output when played well.

Team Comp

Squad Composition

In a 5-player squad, the ideal split is 2-3 physical DPS, 1-2 magic DPS, and at least 1 player running a healing skill. Physical players handle the boss while magic players clear adds. The healer keeps everyone alive on Hard and Insane runs. Communication matters — call out when you're low or when the boss is about to do a big attack.

Progression Roadmap

1
Farm Shattered Forest Normal until you have a full gear set and a decent weapon
2
Buy Skill Crates with Keys — get at least 2-3 skills that match your weapon type
3
Push to Shattered Forest Hard, then move to Orion's Peak Normal
4
Start merging pets — sell Commons you don't need, merge duplicates for rarity upgrades
5
Progress through dungeons: Deadman's Cove → Flaming Depths → Mosscrown Jungle
6
Optimize gear stats with Stardust rerolls — aim for S-tier stats on Legendary+ gear
7
Farm Insane difficulty for exclusive rare pets and the best loot in the game

FAQ

What are the best weapons in Dungeon Heroes?

The current top 5 are Glacial Lance, Chilled Scythe, Oceanic Scepter, Dune Dagger, and Forested Blade. Weapons aren't class-locked, so you can swap freely. Pick whatever fits your skill setup — magic weapons for magic skills, physical weapons for physical skills.

How does pet merging work in Dungeon Heroes?

You merge 5 pets of the same rarity to get one pet of the next rarity tier. So 5 Commons make an Uncommon, 5 Uncommons make a Rare, and so on up to Legendary. Merging costs Keys, so don't blow all your Keys on skill crates if you're trying to upgrade pets.

What is Stardust used for in Dungeon Heroes?

Stardust (also called Magic Dust) is the main upgrade currency. You get it by selling unwanted gear and pets at the lobby shop. Use it to level up pets (1-75) and reroll gear stats. Gear stats range from D (worst) to S (best) — you can lock good stats before rerolling, but it costs more Stardust each time you lock one.

Are there codes for Dungeon Heroes?

There's currently no code redemption system in Dungeon Heroes. The game doesn't have a codes menu. If the developer adds one in the future, we'll update our codes page.

Should I play magic or physical build?

Both work. The key is consistency — match your weapon type to your skill type. Magic skills with a magic weapon (like scepters), physical skills with a physical weapon (like spears or swords). Mixing them cuts your damage. Some skills like Call of the Wild are hybrid and work with either.
