Survive the Cold Guide
How to find all 7 relics, craft gear, survive snowstorms, raise pets, and raid shops in this frozen Roblox survival game.
What is Survive the Cold?
Survive the Cold is a survival simulator on Roblox by Second Ground Studios. You spawn in a freezing forest with nothing and need to find warmth, food, and shelter before the cold kills you. The ultimate goal is locating all 7 relics scattered across the map to end the eternal winter.
The game features a warmth management system where snowstorms fill your freeze meter in seconds, a multi-step crafting bench, three shops with respawning loot, and pets that give permanent stat buffs. Multiple players share the same 8-person server, so teamwork is a real option. The game launched January 29, 2026 and gets daily bug fixes plus weekly updates โ a classes system with 4 new classes is on the way.

The Freeze Bar on the right side of your screen is the entire game. Let it fill up and you're dead. Two things bring it down:
๐ฅ Campfires
Your anchors. Each branch adds 30 seconds of burn time. If a fire goes out, adding fuel restarts it instantly. Keep one burning in your house at all times โ during snowstorms, an unlit campfire means your freeze bar climbs even indoors.
๐ฆ Torches
Your lifeline when exploring. Holding a torch actively lowers your freeze bar while you're outside. Standard torches deplete over time, so always carry spares. Upgrade to a Level 2 Crafting Bench to unlock placeable torches for setting up heat checkpoints along your routes.
Base Building
Follow the in-game arrows to find an abandoned house. Light the central campfire to claim it as your base. This is your crafting hub, storm shelter, and pet home all in one.
Storm damage: Snowstorms can punch holes in your walls. If your indoor temperature drops despite the fire burning, check the walls โ slap a Plank on the hole and hold E to fix it. Always keep a few Planks in reserve.
Upgrades: Finding relics unlocks the upper floor. Furniture from the Furniture Shop makes the space functional. The Crafting Bench is your most important piece of furniture โ upgrade it with Gear to unlock advanced recipes.
Surviving Snowstorms
Snowstorms hit every few minutes with zero mercy. Outside, your freeze bar rockets up. Inside, you're only safe if the campfire is lit and the walls are intact. Here's the survival checklist:
- Keep 20+ branches near your campfire before each storm
- Check walls after every storm โ holes drop indoor temperature fast
- Carry a torch if you're caught outside โ it buys time to reach shelter
- Time your exploration โ head out right after a storm ends for maximum safe window
- Stock food โ hunger damage stacks with cold damage, and both at once is a death sentence

How Crafting Works
- Deposit materials โ Press F at the Crafting Bench to open storage. Hit "Deposit One" or "Deposit All" to move materials from your inventory to the bench.
- Open crafting menu โ Exit storage, then press E to see available recipes.
- Select and create โ Pick a recipe and hit "Create." If you have the right materials in bench storage, the item goes straight to your inventory.
- Upgrade your bench โ Use Gear to unlock higher-tier recipes. Advanced benches are required for cold-zone equipment like placeable torches and warm clothing.
Shop Locations
3Shops aren't currency-based โ they're respawning loot zones in high-risk cold areas. You don't buy anything; you just grab what's there and run back before you freeze.
๐ Food Shop
Respawning canned food. Essential once the Hunger Bar appears. Located far from your house in a cold zone โ bring torches and time between storms.
๐งฅ Clothes Shop
Outfits that slow your freeze bar. A successful run here is mandatory for long-term survival. The cold-resistant gear makes relic hunting significantly easier.
๐ช Furniture Shop
Decorations and functional items for your house. Lower priority than Food and Clothes, but useful for making your base more livable.
Finding All 7 Relics
Relics are the endgame. Collecting all 7 ends the eternal cold and is the main progression goal. Each relic also permanently weakens snowstorms, making the game progressively easier.
- Wait for the notification โ the game tells you when a relic spawns. Don't wander randomly.
- Check the map board outside your house โ it shows direction and distance to the relic.
- Prepare before heading out โ stock torches, food, and know your escape route back to shelter.
- Time between storms โ leave right after a storm ends for the maximum safe window.
- Don't grab during a storm โ if a storm warning hits while you're near a relic, get to safety first. The relic stays.
Pet System
Pets spawn randomly in the forest, usually frozen in ice. When you see the notification, go grab them โ each pet gives a permanent passive stat buff that stacks with other pets.
How to get a pet: Find the frozen pet in the forest โ carry it back to your house โ place it near the lit campfire โ wait a few minutes for it to thaw. Once thawed, the pet is yours and the buff is permanent.
In a game where every second of warmth counts, pet buffs are not optional โ they're essential for late-game relic hunting in the coldest zones.
Combat โ Wolves & Yeti
Wolves spawn on the map outskirts where it's coldest. They're territorial and will attack on sight. Yetis are rarer and tougher. Both drop pelts used for crafting warm clothes โ Wolf Pelt and Yeti Pelt are rare drops, so expect to fight several before getting one.
Tips: Craft a Spear before engaging. Bring bandages for HP recovery. Don't fight during snowstorms โ the cold damage stacking with combat damage will kill you fast. Melt ice blocks with your torch to find extra materials for crafting weapons.
FAQ
How many relics are in Survive the Cold?
There are 7 relics total. Finding all of them ends the eternal cold. The game notifies you when a relic spawns โ check the map board outside your house for direction and distance. Each relic you collect also permanently weakens the snowstorms.
How do I survive snowstorms?
Get indoors or stand next to a lit campfire. If you're caught outside, your freeze meter fills almost instantly. Carrying a torch slows the freeze but won't fully protect you. The safest play is heading back to your base when you see the storm warning. Keep your house campfire fueled at all times.
What are the best crafting materials to prioritize?
Branches are the most important โ they fuel campfires (30 seconds per branch) and are used in most crafting recipes. Gear (found in chests) is critical for upgrading your crafting bench. Wolf and Yeti Pelts are rare drops from combat but let you craft warm clothes that slow your freeze rate.
How do pets work in Survive the Cold?
Pets spawn randomly in the forest, usually frozen in ice. Bring them back to your house and place them near the campfire to thaw. Each pet gives a permanent passive stat buff โ in a game where every second of warmth counts, those buffs add up fast.
Are there codes for Survive the Cold?
