S-Tier

VampireMutation
x12 multiplier — the highest single mutation in the game. Reportedly added in a recent update. If you see it in the Potions Shop, buy it before anything else. This one mutation alone can double your income compared to the next best option.
ShinyVariant
x5 variant multiplier. The best variant in the game and it's not close. Since variants multiply your entire mutation stack, Shiny with even mediocre mutations outperforms any other variant with perfect mutations.
Supreme BrainlordLegendary
120 BR/hour base income — the highest-earning Brainrot. Legendary rarity with a 6-hour feeding interval and 50% mutation chance on evolution. This is your endgame income generator.
A

A-Tier

RainbowMutation
x10 multiplier, Mythical rarity. Costs $964.3ST which is steep, but the return is massive. Second-best mutation in the game. Pair it with Vampire and your stack is already at x22 before variants.
CrystalMutation
x9 multiplier, Legendary rarity at $6.5ST. Much cheaper than Rainbow for nearly the same multiplier. Best value-for-money mutation in the game — buy this one early.
VoidVariant
x4 variant multiplier. Solid second choice if you haven't rolled Shiny yet. A Void variant with a good mutation stack still puts out serious numbers. The difference between Void and Shiny is 20% of your total income.
Cerebral CortexEpic
45 BR/hour, Epic rarity. 12-hour feeding interval with 25% mutation chance. Strong mid-game Brainrot that carries you until you can afford Legendaries. Reliable and consistent.
B

B-Tier

GlitchMutation
x8 multiplier, Legendary rarity. Costs $246.7QT — expensive but worth it as your third or fourth mutation. The jump from x0 to x8 is huge; the jump from x21 to x29 is still meaningful.
SparkleMutation
x4 multiplier, Epic rarity at $6.7QT. Decent mid-tier mutation. Not exciting on its own, but every point of multiplier matters when your variant amplifies the total.
BloodrotMutation
x3.5 multiplier, Epic rarity at $467.2QD. Similar tier to Sparkle but slightly cheaper relative to its multiplier. Good filler mutation while saving for the big ones.
DiamondVariant
x3 variant multiplier. Functional but you'll feel the gap compared to Shiny or Void. Still better than Gold. If you're stuck with Diamond, focus on stacking more mutations to compensate.
C

C-Tier

LightningMutation
x3 multiplier, Rare rarity at $67.2T. Starter mutation that gets the job done early. Replace priority is low since it still adds to your stack, but don't go out of your way to get it if you can afford Glitch or higher.
GoldVariant
x2 variant multiplier. The weakest variant. It doubles your mutation stack, which sounds good until you realize Shiny would 2.5x it instead. Upgrade as soon as possible.
Neural SynapseRare
15 BR/hour, Rare rarity. 18-hour feeding interval with 10% mutation chance. Early-game workhorse. You'll have a bunch of these before you start pulling Epics. They do their job but don't expect them to carry you.
D

D-Tier

WetMutation
x2 multiplier, Uncommon rarity at $4.5B. The cheapest mutation and it shows. Only worth buying if you literally have nothing else. The $4.5B is better saved toward Lightning or Sparkle.
Basic NeuronCommon
5 BR/hour, Common rarity. 24-hour feeding interval with only 5% mutation chance. Everyone starts here. Feed it, evolve it, and move on. These exist to teach you the mechanics, not to make you rich.

How We Rank

We ranked everything in Catch and Feed a Brainrot by one metric: how much it contributes to your income. Mutations are ranked by their multiplier value relative to cost. Variants are ranked by their multiplier since you can't buy them. Brainrots are ranked by base BR/hour earnings. When items are close in multiplier, we factor in cost efficiency — Crystal (x9 at $6.5ST) ranks above Glitch (x8 at $246.7QT) because you get more bang for your buck.

The mutation stacking formula is what makes this game's economy interesting. Since mutations add together and variants multiply the sum, every new mutation you buy gets amplified by your variant. That means even a B-tier mutation like Sparkle (x4) becomes significant when Shiny (x5) is multiplying the total. Focus on getting the S and A tier mutations first, then fill in with B tier as you can afford them. For the full breakdown of every mutation and how the formula works, check our mutations guide. FAQ

What's the best mutation in Catch and Feed a Brainrot?

Vampire at x12 multiplier. It's the highest single mutation in the game. If you can only afford one mutation, make it this one. Rainbow (x10) is the second choice if Vampire isn't available in the Potions Shop.

Does this tier list change with updates?

Yes. The devs add new mutations and adjust balance periodically. Vampire was reportedly added in a recent update. We'll re-rank after every major patch. Check back after game updates to see if anything shifted.

Should I prioritize mutations or better Brainrots?

Mutations first. A Common Brainrot with Vampire + Rainbow + Shiny variant earns more than a naked Legendary. Mutations multiply your base income, so they have a bigger impact than upgrading your Brainrot's rarity. Get at least 2-3 strong mutations before chasing Legendaries.

Are variants worth chasing?

Absolutely, but you can't buy them — they appear randomly. Shiny (x5) multiplies your entire mutation stack, which is massive. The difference between no variant and Shiny can be 5x your total income. You can't control when you get one, but when you do, it changes everything.

What's the best combo for a new player?

Start with Lightning (x3, cheapest useful mutation) and work toward Crystal (x9, best value for money). Once you have those two stacked, save for Rainbow or Vampire. Any variant you roll along the way is a bonus. Don't waste money on Wet (x2) — save for Lightning instead.
